Reports are printed, often times in multiple copies, manually distributed and archived on microfiche. These traditional manual retrieval, printing, distribution and archival processes are very slow. Some systems are online but they have their own set of problems. Searching through stacks of printed reports or microfiche is the norm for information retrieval in most systems.

A Solution

COLD provides a method for fast electronic information retrieval and display.  COLD is a system designed to replace or supplement report printing and or microfiche. COLD utilizes technology, which provides users with a unique cost effective solution for report archival, retrieval, printing and distribution. Mainframe, mid-range, mini or microcomputer output reports stored on optical or CD-R disks have a life cycle of up to fifty (50) years.

Why MacroFiche  

There are several COLD systems available today. When Zytron selected a system for our clients we had to have the very best. After evaluating virtually every system available we selected SER Macrosoft as our software vendor. Their product, MacroFiche/NT, offers the features our clients told us they wanted in their COLD system. In addition we wanted a system that our users wouldn’t outgrow. MacroFiche/NT accepts report files from virtually any system in its native print or spool file format, including laser print file formats such as AFP, DJDE, Metacode or PCL5.

MacroFiche supports storing information on any standard media including RAID subsystems, magnetic disk, optical disk and CD.  Report information can be accessed and distributed to remote users via LAN and WAN connections, Web connections or Web browser based access, or by CD-R. MacroFiche provides the industries greatest compression technology to store up to 600,000 report pages on a single CD-R. 

Powerful client/server design coupled with advanced graphical user interface; allows users throughout your enterprise to access report information faster and easier than ever before.  In addition to report viewing, information can be printed, faxed, or exported directly to native spreadsheet and text file formats.  Any report can be annotated with text and graphical based notes found in MacroFiche.
